Work History

PhD Candidate With Scholarship

National Institute For Space Research (INPE)
São José Dos Campos, São Paulo
02.2018 - Current
  • Performed and implemented a methodology to simulate geomagnetically induced currents (GICs) in low-latitude power transmission networks.
  • Derived 3-D resistivity models inverting Magnetototelluric (MT) and Geomagnetic Deep Sounding data (GDS) using the parallel code ModEM.
  • Implemented data analysis using Matlab, especially competency and experience working with real-time data and applying time and frequency domain analysis techniques, including knowledge of time-series analysis and practical experience using the methods in applications of Space Weather.
  • Identified a cluster of substations with a potential risk of larger GICs in a Brazilian power network focusing on mitigation and monitoring strategies.

Reviewer

Space Weather Journal
Washington, DC
12.2021 - 02.2022
  • Produced peer review comments based on own knowledge and expertise in space weather hazards.
  • Provided written, unbiased, constructive feedback on time and considered the completed research's scientific value.

Internship Student

Oregon State University
Corvallis, Oregon
09.2021 - 02.2022
  • Reviewed related literature and conducted investigations to support research efforts.
  • Analyzed problems, identified solutions and made decisions to identify potential hazards of GIC in the Brazilian power network.
  • Completed research, compiled data, and produced an article in the submission process.

Physiscs Teacher

Anglo American School
Bogotá, Colombia, Cundinamarca
02.2010 - 02.2016
  • Planned and implemented integrated lessons to meet national standards of high school.
  • Communicated frequently with parents, students and faculty to provide feedback and discuss instructional strategies.

Research Activities

District University Francisco Jose De Caldas
Bogotá, Colombia, Cundinamarca
02.2007 - 10.2009
  • Developed the assembly, calibration, and application of a data acquisition system for global solar irradiation from virtual instrumentation; contemplated in the project for the assembly of an autonomous meteorological station at the Francisco José de Caldas District University.

Physics, Mathematics and Geometry Teacher

Liceo Católico Campestre School
Bogotá, Colombia, Cundinamarca
09.2006 - 07.2009
  • Prepared and implemented lesson plans covering required course topics of elementary and high school, participated in elaborating the pedagogical teaching proposal creating interactive learning activities and developed lesson plans.
