Karen Hoyt

I am a retired Elementary School Teacher of 20 years with expertise in early education, child development and collaborative teaching methods.

Since retirement, I am now active in many civic organizations including the Louisiana State Garden Federation and two local clubs and am the Blue Star Memorial Chairman for one of the clubs that supports the military. I hold offices and chairmanships on the local, district and state levels.

I am a National Flower Show Judge.

I am the Secretary on the Board of the Community Foundation of Acadiana, Vermilion Chapter.

I belong to a bookclub 20+ years and am in a rosary group. I have served as a lector for St. Theresa Parish of Abbeville for 30+ years.

I am a member of the Vermilion Parish Retired Teacher's Association.

I have a professional florists license but not currently working in that field. It is for my enjoyment and I enter arrangements and horticulture in many flower shows.

I am a wife (married 49 years to the same wonderful guy), mother of 3 happily married children, and the grandmother of 8 gorgeous grandchildren.

I am known for my verbal acuity, determination to get the job done, and being a good listener.
