Karen M. Skipper, MT-BC, is committed to provide exceptional music therapy services using research based, best practice music therapy techniques. Her practice is based on the Neurologic Model of Music Therapy in which specific music techniques are used to stimulate parts of the brain and treat neurologic disorders.
Facilitate group therapeutic singing for people with Parkinson's disease and their care partners. The position includes scheduling music therapy sessions and leading music therapy interventions during sessions to improve challenges in communication that can often occur with a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.
Responsibilities include communication with group members, selecting appropriate repertoire, planning concerts, speaking at support groups, representing the organization at symposia and workshops.
The Musical Director is also responsible for outreach and promotion of the program to the community at large.
