· Provide direct care for injured, acutely ill, and sub-acutely ill patients in a fast paced environment.

· Manage the emergency department as charge nurse in coordination with the patient access nurse and nursing supervisor.

· Preceptor for new hires and new charge nurses.

· Administer and monitor conscious sedation for patients undergoing angiography and stent placement.

· Scrub RN assuring aseptic and sterile technique in catheterization procedures.

· Provide direct care to patients with a variety of illnesses and injuries.

· Manage the neurology floor in the charge nurse role.

· Member of Unit Council, participate in unit and hospital-wide improvement initiatives.

· Manage medical aspects of the psychiatric unit in coordination with the psychiatrist and nurse practitioner.

· Create, amend, and monitor accuracy of the patient medication administration record.

· Ensure unit compliance with state and JCAHO regulations.

· Facilitate groups with adolescent patients experiencing a wide variety of presenting mental health issues.

· Utilize crisis prevention, intervention, and de-escalation techniques.

· Educate adolescents on healthy behaviors, coping skills, and prevention of illness.
