  Use of the PH scale. Using an acidic toner after highlighting the hair, to bring the ph back down and help seal the cuticle.
  Anything on the knowledge of anatomy and physiology as related to Cosmetology. Understanding how the hair , skin and nails function helps determine products that are suitable for each client. Knowing the shape of a clients face can help determine what hair styles are going to complement their features.
  Knowledge of the structure of hair. Important for any chemical service. Altering the hair
  Knowledge of the State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers rules and regulations. Making sure all tools and instruments are clean and disinfected, keeping all clean items and dirty items separate. Referring the safety precautions when using chemicals. Wearing gloves and an apron while using chemicals
  Permanent Waving: chemistry of perming and relaxing, analyze hair, wrapping, and performing perms and relaxers safely. I do perms regularly in the salon, most of which are on boys with mullets. I go through all the steps of perming, making sure to have my client properly draped. Making sure the chemicals don’t run in the clients face or down their neck.
  Knowledge of disorders and diseases of skin, scalp, hair, and nails. I do a scalp analysis of every client, making sure there’s no abrasions, or any other reason a service should not be performed on the guest. Such as lice.
  Knowledge of hair/scalp treatments and the application of them. I give my clients the knowledge of maintaining healthy hair and a healthy scalp. While teaching them what products are best for the integrity of their hair and scalp.
  Experience in proper shampooing procedures. Properly draping guest for wet services and chemical services, shampooing the hair twice, giving a massage , and conditioning them. Making sure to properly rinse their hair between each step.
  Knowledge of proper care and storing of all hair, skin, and nail implements. Storing color at a proper temperature and making sure it is sealed correctly. To make sure the color does not oxidize before using.
  Understanding of the elements of hair design and the harmony needed between haircutting and face shapes. Helping clients decide what styles do and do not complement their face shape.
  Experience in cutting techniques using shears, razor, and clippers. I have taken many hair cutting classes in the salon, I use my shears and clippers on a daily basis and my razor atleast once a week when layering.
  Experience in proper client consultations. All clients must receive a consultation with me prior to receiving any service. We go over their daily routine, their hair type , texture , what they love and hate about their hair. What their goal is for their hair.
  Knowledge and experience in braiding, pin curls, roller placement and comb out, finger waves, blow dry styling, thermal pressing, thermal waving, and any artificial hair styling (wigs, extensions, etc.) I offer hand tied extensions in the salon and have multiple clients that wear them. Almost all my clients end their service with a blow out and thermal curl. I use braiding frequently in updos / event styling.
  Knowledge of color theory as applied to coloring hair or the application of makeup. In the salon I use the color wheel every single day. Canceling out unwanted tones in the hair, and using complementary tones, in the hair and during makeup services.
  Experience in hair lightening, application of temporary, semipermanent, demi permanent, and permanent hair color safely. Color services are my most scheduled appointments. Most of them being some sort of highlights or balayage, to which I always use a demi permanent color afterwords to tone. I also do a variety of vivid colors for which I use semi permanent hair color.
  Knowledge of hair color, skin care, and nail care products
  Knowledge of different types of cosmetics
  Knowledge and experience in different types of basic and advanced facials and makeup applications. I don’t offer facials in the salon but I do offer makeup applications. Usually for events such as weddings or prom. I tend to let the client show me what they want and give them my professional opinion on how the look will or will not compliment their skin and outfit. I only use disposable tools , and use makeup which I am able to disinfect or is single use.
  Knowledge and experience in waxing safely. I frequently wax eyebrows in the salon. Removing makeup, cleansing the area , drying the area , deciding what hair needs to be removed , testing wax on the back of my own wrist , spreading wax in the direction of the hair growth , applying strip in direction of the hair growth , holding skin taunt and quickly removing strip in the opposite direction of the hair growth
  Knowledge and experience in manicures, pedicures, nail wraps, nail tips, and acrylic nails , while I do not offer nail services in the salon I do give myself manicures regularly and do my own acrylics from time to time.
