Accomplishments

  • While I was an 8th grade Science teacher at Burns Sci Tech Charter school in Oak Hill Florida I taught my students the 8th grade science curriculum/science standards throughout the school year and had to prepare my students for the FSSA "Florida State wide Science Assessment", allowing me to reteach the 6th-7th science standards as well.
  • During my time teaching there I was able to have the highest Science Scores in Volusia county during the 2022-2023, 2023-2024 ; and this year my students scored a 77% pass rate ( students who earned a level 3-5) on the FSSA. The state scores are not available yet, but this years scores were higher then then the last 2 previous school years.; so more then likely BST will be number one again.
  • I am very proud and feel accomplished to help make BST an "A" school in the state of Florida.
  • Over the years I was asked by my administration to allow students who were "education" majors to complete observation hours in my classroom and I gladly allowed them to do so as it benefited them so they could achieve their goal of becoming a future educator in the classroom.
  • In 2016 I was also a part of the Science Curriculum mapping team as we reviewed and realigned the science standards that are used in the science curriculum maps
  • I committed myself to completing "Bioscopes: in the summers of 2012, 2013, 2014 in which I worked with faculty and staff from Florida State University and I completed 200 hours of training in the felids of Physical, Earth, and Ecology sciences. All of the training we received was "STEM' based and I developed multiple lessons which a currently published on Cplams and are available for teachers to use in their classrooms.
  • I have been rated a distinguished and effective teacher in the classroom throughout my teaching career.
