Currently, I'm an Emergency Department (ED) Nurse Manager responsible for nursing operations of a 41 bed ED. Responsibilities include maintaining operational budget, biweekly payroll, schedules for 120 staff members, ordering of supplies, ensuring functional equipment, monitoring performance improvement activities, overseeing patient throughput and patient service recovery, and ensuring DOH and JCAHO standards are followed. As a nurse manager and formerly ED Clinical Nurse Specialist, I work collaboratively with our ED physician leadership team as well as on multidisciplinary committees both on the department and hospital wide levels. In the past I've been a staff/charge nurse in a variety of acute settings, as well as perdiem nursing supervisor. I've also been an educator in academic settings, given presentations, and have published articles related to nursing.
