As a CNA transitioning to an LVN student, my hands-on experience in patient care—such as assisting with hygiene, mobility, and vital signs—provides a strong foundation for developing advanced nursing skills like medication administration, wound care, and physical assessments. With 954 clinical hours completed, I have gained proficiency in essential tasks including PPE use, blood glucose testing, catheter care and insertion, G-tube medication administration, and medication passes. My experience working in high-volume settings such as Surgical Acute, Emergency, Telemetry, Medical-Surgical, Intensive Care, and Pediatrics has strengthened my ability to multitask, delegate, and adhere to hospital protocols and state/federal regulations. Additionally, my growing proficiency with EPIC EHR supports efficient documentation and patient management. While CNAs focus on basic care, my LVN training expands my scope to include clinical interventions and critical thinking skills necessary for autonomous nursing practice. I am committed to continuing my education and gaining specialized experience to bridge my CNA background with the responsibilities of an LVN, ultimately advancing my ability to provide safe, compassionate, and comprehensive patient care.
