PhD in Material Sciences, with more than 5 years of research experience. Skilled in analytical experiments, ligand design, organic/inorganic reactions, and nanomaterial synthesis. Mentor to undergraduate, master's, and graduate researchers. Currently a Visiting Research Scientist at UMBC, Maryland since May 2023
-Funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST-SERB) in India and the Royal Society at the University of Hull in the UK. Conducted research on:
1. Synthesis, mechanistic studies, and characterization of III-V semiconductor nanocrystals with increased covalent bonding.
2. Development of biocompatible fluorescent quantum dots (QDs) emitting in the second near-infrared region (1000-1400 nm).
3. Development of heavy metal-free QD lanthanide conjugates for sensing applications.
Acquired skills include ligand designing, organic/inorganic reactions, column chromatography, ligand purifications, analytical experiments, gel electrophoresis, colloidal nanomaterial synthesis (quantum dots, InP, Ag2S, CuFeS2, CuInS, perovskites, etc.), hot-injection methods, ligand exchange processes, and hands-on experience with analytical instruments and spectroscopic techniques such as HPLC, NMR, GC, CC, mass spectrometry, elemental analyzers, particle size analyzers, TEM, XPS, XRD, FTIR, Raman, NIR, TGA, UV-Vis, UV-NIR, rotary evaporator, centrifugation, and turbidimeter. Proficient in performing air-sensitive reactions and working within controlled environments like gloveboxes and Schlenk lines
