Karissa Roemer

Every year working as a camp leader where I was responsible for 12 girls 8-11 years old I focus on collaborating with team members to create an engaging and fun environment. I lead group discussions, with teamwork and communication skills among campers and peers. I keep a safe space for the campers and peers by monitoring camper behavior and ensuring compliance. I help train and enhance younger leaders to work on their team work and collaboration skills to set a good example for the younger girls. Each year has gotten better with the feedback given from the teen volunteers. This camp is an outdoor camp so one big thing we focus on is keeping the space clean and leaving it better then we found it.

I started watching my 3 little cousins with my older sister from time to time, but now I get to do it on my own. We play games inside and outside and I always make sure that they are fully engaged and having fun. The three are between 5-10 years younger than me.

I have always loved being around animals and pets, I used to go door to door in my neighborhood asking people if I could take their dogs on walks. Whenever there was a loose dog in the neighborhood, my mom would get texts from people asking if I knew whose dog it was. I have been asked to take care of people's pets while they're on a trip and I walk the pets I feed them on time and I always play with them. I have 3 uncommon pets, 2 lizards and one Bunny, I have always loved exotic animals.
