Community Experience

Arrow Child and Family Ministries (2021-2022)

  • Volunteered and shadowed with a local school, working with approx. 30 children (ages 6-18) with behavioral difficulties in the foster care system. Aided students doing work, shadowed case workers, and the behavior technician. I learned a lot from these students, and deeply value the stories they shared with me.

Esperanza Center ESOL volunteer (Fall 2020-Spring 2021)

  • Helped with online immersive English as a Second Language classes (2x a week for 3 semesters) during the online semesters of my undergraduate years. One-on-one conversation practice in English for recent immigrants and migrants.

 Kino Border Initiative immersion experience (May 2022)

  • Weeklong immersion experience in Nogales Sonora/Arizona. Built relationships with several groups, including a border community of ranchers, migrants in a comedor in Mexico, border patrol, forensics unit in Tucson, and various Jesuit leaders.
