Student Internship

- Student intern at Mclane's Children's Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (12 hour shifts)

- Responsible for multiple patients

- Knowledgeable in mechanical ventilation, including; High Frequency Jet Ventilation, Oscillatory Ventilation, Nitric Oxide

- Knowledgeable in BiPAP and CPAP ventilation

- Knowledgeable in IPPB treatments

- Was present at all high risk deliveries, rapids, and Code Blue

- Responsible for patient assessment and progress, including communication with physicians and care team

- Responsible for administering appropriate medications on patient's treatment plan

- Have experience in administering surfactant in the neonatal intensive care unit

- Responsible for the charting of my own patient's through the use of EPIC medical charting system

- Experience in resuscitation in both neonates, pediatrics, and adults

- Educated in informing patient's about Asthma Action Plans and what to expect in the future

- Worked as a Patient Treatment Coordinator until I had gained acceptance into the Respiratory Therapy Program at Temple College

- responsible for scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming patient appointments

- responsible for filing the correct insurance claims for each individual patient's treatment

- responsible for handling finances of each patient

- responsible for sending prescriptions off to appropriate pharmacy for each patient

- responsible for checking in and setting up patient's to be seen by surgeon

- responsible for assisting surgeon for any needs

- responsible for sterilization and specific set up of equipment for each surgeon, equipment set up varied depending on specific surgery

• Supervised front desk to manage check-ins and check-outs, verify insurance and collect payments
• Learned to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
• Provided thorough pre-chiropractic care, such as cupping therapy, tetanus shock therapy, and proper kinesiology taping management
• Ensured that each patient was left with all questions and concerns answered
• Consistently was learning knew knowledge daily about chiropractic care, health insurance, and business management
