- I am a utilization RN responsible for reviewing patient charts on an average of three units and roughly 40 charts per day.
- I use my critical care skills and knowledge for years of experience to review the chart and find criteria that would keep the patient inpatient or if the patient is not meeting a status I talk with physicians to update.
- I receive many insurance approvals and insurance denials, which needs to be charted in the patients chart and if the insurance is denying hospital stay I work with the physician to accept what the insurance is willing to give or set up a peer to peer meeting with insurance companies to discuss the case.
