Volunteer Experience

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Missouri, 08/01/09, 05/01/12, I volunteered and became a big sister to a 2nd grade girl in Columbia Public Schools. I met with her every Wednesday, and we would play on the playground, build relationships, and attend monthly activities sponsored by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Missouri. At the end of the year in May we would have a party in a gymnasium with activities and we got to meet with all the other big brothers and big sisters serving in our community.
  • MU Adventure Club, Columbia, MO, 08/01/09, 12/01/13, Served as a site assistant at Fairview Elementary School, Built relationships with children ages kindergarten through 5th grade at Fairview Elementary School, Played board games, gym games, and outside activities (i.e. recess, playground) guided by the site assistants, Monitored the safety and well-being of all the students during the time at Adventure Club, Participated in arts and crafts once a week during Adventure Club hours, Participated and provided snack for students before and after school, Build relationships with parents of the children who attended MU Adventure Club, Instructed children on following the rules of the school including quiet time, seating in the lunchroom, and lining up to go outside for recess, gym, and the classroom
