- Provided care for patients of all ages at ODU run free clinics that provide care to the underserved members of the community, many of whom are homeless and unable to afford routine medical care.
- Care provided includes adult and pediatric well exams, hypertension management, diabetes management, wound care, viral and bacterial upper respiratory care, urinary tract infection management, sexually transmitted disease management, hyper and hypothyroidism management, smoking/alcohol/substance use cessation, dermatitis treatment, allergic rhinitis management, acute otitis media treatment, pneumonia management, Hepatitis C treatment, prostatitis management, and acute/chronic psychiatric illness management.
Riverside Internal Medicine (183 hours)- Allison Cale, FNP-C
- Provided care and collaborated in creating care plans for patients of all ages and backgrounds from a holistic and preventative approach.
- Care provided includes management of chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, COPD, asthma, insomnia, anxiety and depression, hyperlipidemia, obesity, and vitamin deficiency. Also managed acute conditions including allergic dermatitis, otitis media, respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, musculoskeletal fractures and strains, and others. Focused on preventative medicine to abide by current CDC recommendations.
Minor Emergency and Family Care (70 hours)- Shaniqua Hicks, FNP-C
- Provided care to patients of all ages experiencing minor emergencies and acute complaints including but not limited to: upper respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, conjunctivitis, musculoskeletal injuries, pneumonia, minor lacerations and skin injuries, otitis media, dermatitis, and gastritis.
Women's Health, Pediatrics, and Specialty
Outer Banks Women's Care (62 hours)- Hanna Molina, MD
- Provided care and assisted in the creation of care plans pertaining to obstetrics and gynecologic care for women of child bearing age.
- Cases included but not limited to: birth control management, hormone replacement therapy, peri-menopause and menopause management, sexually transmitted infection treatment, urinary tract infections, bacterial vaginosis, vaginal candidiasis, pregnancy milestones, postpartum follow-ups, mental health management, pessary fitting and management, breast health, preventative medicine including pap-smears/mammograms/bone density scans per ACOG recommendations.
ODU Community Cares Pop-up Pediatric Back to school clinic (10 hours)- Emily Horvath, FNP-BC, Lisa Cordero, FNP-BC
- Completed school and sports physicals for student prior to returning to school for clearance in school sports and activities.
Reboot Functional Medicine (40 hours)- Mary Ann Bjorkman, FNP-C
- Created holistic care plans with an emphasis on functional medicine as opposed to traditional western medicine with the overall goal of preventing common chronic conditions such as loss of bone density, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes.
