  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Special Collections department which includes the scheduling of special blood donations and the tracking of these products through testing, labeling and shipping to guarantee the units arrive to the hospital in time for surgery or transfusion
  • Implement new processes and create standard operating procedures to align with the policies and procedures of NYBC
  • Manage the release and discard process for autologous biohazard units by working with hospital blood bank directors and NYBC medical directors
  • Manage all customer service donor concerns by speaking with donors, investigating concerns, following-up with staff when necessary and reporting to management and the FDA when requested
  • Supervise the billing procedure for special collections and at the donor sites and put in place a new billing system
  • Responsible for the supervision and providing overall training for a staff of 6 employees, including BECS training
  • Manage NYBC’s participation in research studies
  • Communicate daily with NYBC medical directors, hospital blood bank supervisors, and ordering physicians to troubleshoot any issues that arise to provide the best possible customer service
  • Managed the convalescent plasma scheduling program at NYBC
