Patients and their families are educated on the catheterizations process and what to expect prior to and during their procedure. Afterwards, detailed discharge education is given to ensure safe healing and best patient outcomes. Follow up care and education days after the procedure is performed to ensure ongoing care plan compliance. In addition to curative/treatment-based healthcare, education commonly has a strong emphasis on preventative medicine including lifestyle modifications, appropriate screenings and immunizations.
