I Learn America (ILA) is a national/youth-led education program with a mission to use the power of storytelling to foster empathy, urgency, and action around issues affecting migrant youth, as they forge their own path in a new land.

• Facilitate group storytelling discussions, workshops, and training sessions with over 800+ students in 18 high schools in Broward, Palm Beach, Seminole and Lee Counties with support of local public school districts.
• Assist in the development of youth program activities to promote storytelling based social-emotional learning (SEL) in ILA’s partnered high schools in Florida, Massachusetts, California, Maryland.
• Foster and manage safe/SEL infused environments in 18 partnered schools in Florida for ILA youth, students and families to express themselves freely without fear of judgment.
• Ran Professional Development training sessions in Florida and New Mexico for ILA teachers to learn how to activate impactfully SEL Infused storytelling in their classrooms.
• Organized and ran video, storytelling, and art making workshops for ILA Students and community partners in Florida (Norton Museum of Art), California (Miguel Contreras Education Complex in LA), New York (Make The Road NY)
• Coordinate, and schedule the ILA team of 12 Youth Facilitators and Teaching Artists in Florida while planning ILA’s year long cooperations in Broward, Palm Beach, Seminole and Lee Counties public school districts
• Manage, and create multimedia content for ILA social media

• Assisted teachers with classroom activities such as reading, writing, and math lessons.
• Organized educational materials for students to use during class.
• Provided individualized instruction to struggling learners.
• Helped supervise recess and lunch periods at the school.
• Read stories aloud to classes of elementary school-aged children.
• Tutored students on lessons and homework.
