Summary
I am Kathleen Balmer. I am 16 years old and presently am a junior in high school. I have danced for 13 years, primarily training in ballet and also contemporary, with some jazz and tap training as well. I have danced in two productions every year of my training, which are put on by my studio. I have also participated in many out reach performances such as parades, fund raisers, and various church events. I competed at the YAGP Winston-Salem Semi-Finals in 23' and 24', performing both ballet and contemporary variations. I attended the American Academy of Ballet Summer School (AAB) for two weeks in 2023, attending the program with a 30% scholarship from the Performance Awards program, which my studio participates in every year. This past year from performance awards the judge, Iain MacDonald (Former artistic director of the Joburg Ballet), granted me a 35% scholarship for AAB for summer of 2024. I have also been active in my studio's teaching assistant program since the age of 10. I have taught students ranging in ages from 3-13 in the 10 different classes I have assisted. I am a demi-soloist in my studio's company, which i have been a member of for 7 years. I have five years of corps de ballet experience and two years of soloist experience.
