When I started working at the Veterans Hospital, I came in as a Clerk Typist, my job was to fill in for employees on leave.

Here we would do the labels for the pharmacy, we were also responsible for contacting physicians for renewals.

We also had to contact the physicians for clarification or to obtain new authorizations.
We were responsible for taking the prescription labels and prescriptions to the Pharmacy for filling.
We would also pick up the original prescriptions for filing once the prescription had been filled.
I had this position for 3 years.
I transferred to Comp and Pension.
Here we would receive the Veterans original claim and schedule them for the appropriate appointments.
We then would order their claim files and make sure the correct physician received it on the day of their exams.
We then would collect all the necessary reports file them and send them to be processed.
After 2 years, I transferred back to the Pharmacy.
I was back typing labels, contacting Physicians for clarification.
We now also had direct patient contact.
The patients now came to our door and we processed their orders while they waited., along with doing the prescriptions for mailing.
We were still responsible to collect the finished prescriptions and filing them in the correct file.
We would also be contacted by patients by phone that wanted to order their medications to be mailed.
There were 4 rotating files my letters were L-RI We would rotate who would answer the phone.
