  • As the Director of the Humanitarian Information Facilitation Centre (HIFC), responsible for providing strategic leadership and vision to drive the organization's mission of addressing complex humanitarian issues. In this role, I am responsible for developing long-term plans and policies to position HIFC at the forefront of the humanitarian sector , while also identifying emerging trends and opportunities that could enhance the organization's impact.

    Overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of HIFC, I ensure the effective utilization of human, financial, and other resources, while also establishing governance structures and procedures to guide the organization. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, such as donors, partners, and government entities, has been crucial in securing funding, developing joint initiatives, and influencing policy decisions that align with HIFC's humanitarian objectives.

    As the public face of the organization, I serve as an advocate for important humanitarian causes, leveraging my expertise and thought leadership to contribute to the broader discourse through research, analysis, and knowledge-sharing especially with the media. Additionally, I oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of HIFC's humanitarian programs, ensuring they are aligned with the organization's mission and responsive to the needs of the communities we serve.

  • Research into humanitarian issues and policy analysis is crucial, and I ensured that information is disseminated effectively to journalists, partners, and policymakers through community stakeholder meetings, policy briefings, and media publications. Enhanced communication within the team by organizing regular meetings and promoting open dialogue. Building and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, is a top priority to foster increased collaboration opportunities. Prepared and submitted detailed reports on assignments and ongoing investigations. Facilitated capacity building and training for over 15 community-based organizations on media communication and report writing is a critical aspect of the work. Assisted in all fundraising efforts.

  • As chief operating officer of FOSENET reporting directly to the Board, I was responsible for co-ordinating the day to day operations of FOSENET; this includes: monitoring and controlling the use of funds and servicing the network members as well as sourcing and promoting funding for FOSENET
  • Other tasks included reviewing and drafting relevant policies for programmes and administration for approval to the Board
  • I was also responsible for identifying opportunities for intervention, writing proposals for submission to potential funding partners, meeting with donors and stakeholders and representing the Organisation at key meetings

  • In this position I was assisting both the Programmes department as well as the Administration
  • Major administrative tasks included assisting with research activities, attending donor and stakeholder meetings, compiling monthly monitoring reports, policy briefs, donor reports and position papers
  • In the Programmes I assisted the Programme Officer undertake Monitoring and Evaluation activities, and running the projects
  • Major success under this position was securing funding and successfully implementing research projects on food security using the Household Vulnerability Index (HVI) for the first time in Zimbabwe
  • FOSENET also held and continues to hold capacity building projects for local NGOS which I assisted in designing and implementing

  • I joined the Organisation at its inception in 2003 and was instrumental in the setting up and running of the administration department
  • Major tasks included general reception and administration tasks of filing, typing, handling petty cash, procurements, taking minutes and first entry bookkeeping
  • As the Organisation was still small and growing I also assisted quite a lot in the programmes department under the Child Supplementary Feeding Programme with proposal writing, attending and organizing meetings with implementing partners, stakeholders and funding partners
  • I wrote a proposal that received funding for Agricultural Recovery and I was then promoted to the position of Programmes and Administration Assistant

  • I also assisted in some of the training programmes and market surveys that were conducted for clients
  • In 1998 the first ever directory of Management Consultants was produced by K-Resources and I was part of that team
