Heart and Vascular ICU

• Utilize critical thinking skills to prioritize nursing interventions for a wide variety of complex patients including but not limited to those recovering from an MI, open heart surgery, heart catheterization, vascular surgery, and cardiac arrest
• Manage devices and interventions such as ventilators, BIPAP, CRRT, EKOS, SWAN catheters, arterial lines, chest tubes, pericardial drains, and continuous bladder irrigation
• Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify changes in condition and promptly notify physicians
• Administer and titrate medications safely according to established guidelines while closely monitoring for side effects or adverse reactions
• Improve patient satisfaction by providing compassionate, holistic nursing care that addresses physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of both the patient and their loved ones
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans for complex patients with multiple comorbidities.
• Skillfully manage challenging patient situations using de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention strategies, and therapeutic communication skills.
