For the last 25 years I worked in the Electrophysiology Lab first as a lab nurse and then as a scheduler. As a lab nurse, I was responsible for conscious sedation administration, prepping of patient for procedure, scrub nurse, monitoring of vital signs, notifying physician of any adverse changes in patient during procedure, and the list goes on. As a scheduling nurse, I was responsible for scheduling patients for their procedure as well as giving the day before instructions to the patient. I was responsible for chart review of the patient to make sure there had been no adverse changes in the patient & that they were truly ready for their procedure as well as notifying the physician if there were any question if the patient was not ready for their procedure.
Before the E.P. Lab, I worked in the M.I.C.U. for 2 years taking care of critically ill patients.
This was my first job after obtaining my R.N. I first worked on the med-surg floor & then later transferred into the I.C.U.
