I provide nurturing care to babies whose ages range from 8 weeks - 18 months old. I ensure that they feel safe and secure, receive adequate nutrition and maintain good health. I regularly communicate with parents regarding their babies development and progress. I maintain order, manage time and routines, supervise my assistants, and apply first aid if needed. In addition, I help these babies reach development milestones and I support and involve my parents as much as I can.
I help the director schedule staff for service on Sundays and for AWANA on Wednesdays. I help parents check in their children and help our guests in any way that I possibly can. I also help our director with events such as our Easter egg hunt and our children's Christmas party. If we are short staffed then I will serve in whichever classroom is needing a teacher. This ranges from the nursery to middle school age. I thoroughly enjoy children of all ages and truly enjoy serving in this area.
Dr. Slayton had multiple patients in surrounding nursing homes and assisted living facilities. I kept a schedule of his short-term Medicare patients as well as his long-term Medicaid patients. I took call for him and kept a detailed list of what patients we needed to see on a weekly and sometimes daily basis. I prepared these visits on history and physical forms or a routine progress note. These notes were in such great detail that it painted a picture for him and he knew exactly what was going on with each patient before he entered their rooms. After we completed rounds, I would relay to the nurses his new orders, or I would call in those new orders to the pharmacy directly. I also would arrange meetings with administration and/or family to discuss the patients prognosis and help with discharge plans.
During my time at SETMA, I had the pleasure of rounding with multiple physicians. These physicians included; Dr. Holly, Dr. Anwar, Dr. Aziz, Dr. Le, and Dr. Khan. Each physician was responsible for a handful of either nursing homes or assisted living facilities. With the help of their nurse practitioners, I would schedule their long-term care visits on specific days of the week. This would help the staff know when to expect us. I would prep and create rough drafts for them and once we would complete rounds, I would then transfer that information into their EMR. I would keep track of lab results, vital signs, and any changes of condition. I would ensure all medical documents were signed in a timely manner, and coordinate any meetings that would ensure continuity of care.
