I have been a certified Oregon EFDA for over 5 years now with experience in general dentistry. I have experience being chairside for restorative procedures, maintaining OSHA and infection control standards with sterilization, and experience with dentrix and eaglesoft. I'm highly motivated and detail-oriented. I take pride in my work and love to work hard. It's important to me to do a good job and be proud of the work I am doing. Being on the receiving end of dental pain and needing treatment can be hard. I love getting to play a role in helping patients get through that.
My position at this office started as 1 of 3 EFDA's in a rotation, 2 assistants would work Dr's column and 1 assistant would help hygiene. Over time, my role became mostly hygiene assistant that would assist with Dr's overflow from his column.
I would seat patients for hygienists, review medical history/take BP, take any needed x-rays, assist dentist during exam, create treatment plans and schedule next visit. I would also take alginate impressions as needed. Aside from patient care, I also helped clean/reset all rooms (dr and hygiene) all sterile processing, weekly and monthly maintenance of autoclaves, all stocking and ordering, and any other duties on our checklist. I also help dr's column by making temporary crowns, seating/taking x-rays for limited exams or any other overflow with scheduling, and any lab work that needed done.
I learned from this position that this is where I thrive in dentistry. I'm very detail oriented and driven. I can work independently and insure all tasks are getting done while keeping an eye on all providers, helping where ever I can.
My position at this office was assisting the new associate dentist at our office's second location. I helped her get settled in by assuring we had all the instruments and materials she preferred. I also helped her create her systems such as tray setup and bur blocks.
I was the solo assistant at the office for the majority of the time here. I assisted all procedures, sterile processing, ordering and supplying, and all maintenance on equipment. Experience with crown preps/temporary crowns, fillings, extractions (surgical and simple), bone grafts, restoring implant crowns, lab work (mostly essix retainers and bleach trays)
This was my first job in the dental field. I started as a sterile tech to gain experience while I was in the dental assisting program.
I did all sterile processing and learned the tray/room setups. Once I completed the program, I was assisting chairside for restorative treatment, exams, take xrays and impressions as needed.
