Interpreting the orders provided by the physician to ensure the patient is obtaining the proper examination based off diagnosis and symptoms.
Ensuring the patient understands and is comfortable with the exam being performed.
Following radiation safety measures and use of protection devices to prevent harm to patients or staff.
Positioning patients properly to obtain the necessary images
Establishing IV access to administer contrast dye and mixing oral contrast agents to enhance imaging
Performing examinations while following ALARA guidelines.
Examining images to ensure they are diagnostic.
Cleaning and maintaining CT scan equipment.
Communicating with physicians, nurses and other team members concerning patient status, diagnoses and related information.
Calibrating, maintaining and troubleshot CT/radiologic equipment to minimize operational downtime.
Compiling monthly productivity numbers for multiple modalities.
Creating an updated protocol guide for CT Department and updating/creating protocols in the CT console.
Assisting in PACS Administration, merging duplicate patients, and obtaining report addendums.
Performing daily and monthly QA.
Assisting in training new CT and radiologic technologists.
Placing orders to maintain department supply, contrast and injection syringe stock.
Preparing medical records to release to other medical facilities, patients and law firms requesting imaging via disc, or access code.
