  • Performing daily husbandry/animal care and habitat maintenance for a large number of species from varying taxa such as reptiles, birds, carnivores and primates.
  • Developing/implementing training plans for a variety of species, both with free contact and protected contact. Experience with training methods including association, shaping, and capturing behaviors.
  • Administering topical, injectable and oral (including via gavage) medication under veterinary direction. Working closely with veterinarians to ensure animal welfare is meeting the standards set by AZA
  • Experience preparing animals for transport, introducing animals to others or a new habitat, quarantining new animals, and aiding veterinarians in sedation
  • Keeping detailed records relating to animal health, medication, enrichment, training, and habitat maintenance both in institution's files and ZIMS
