Created a warm, welcoming literature-rich learning environment for first time school age children where math, science, reading comprehension, and music were the main facets for our learning experiences. Along with achieving academic and developmental milestones, children were educated and nurtured to understand and find confidence in their individualism by developing a sense of social-emotional awareness within themselves and in peer relationships. Effective collaborative efforts with colleagues, specialists, community officials and families, were constantly engaged to create a supportive environment in and outside of the classroom for the well-being of each child.

Established structure and order inside my young classroom by setting age-appropriate expectations for older 2-year-old children. Monitored potty training, followed Virginia State recommended objectives for curriculum design/execution, engaged students in one-on-one instruction for a more individualized understanding and assessment, introduced technology and computer skill basics into daily lessons, worked with occupational, physical and speech therapist for students with exceptionalities, communicated and engaged effectively with families of students, and organized classroom to be a safe, exciting, learning environment.

Responsible for managing and running my own classroom, wrote preschool curriculum, executed lesson plans, designed effective individualized education plans through assessment-based observation and instruction, trained other teachers in classroom safety procedures, ran workshops on developmentally appropriate practices, designed classroom website, effectively communicated with parents and families, and created a safe/interactive learning environment.
