As a nurse of 11 years my nursing background consists of medical surgical nursing, eight years as a US Army Reserve nurse and for the past 9 years as a labor and delivery nurse. As a labor and delivery nurse I have experience working in critical access hospitals where I may be the only labor nurse during a shift with no nursery or NICU to working in a hospital with more than 400 deliveries a month and level IV NICU. I feel comfortable working in all aspects of labor, delivery, postpartum couplet care and circulating in the in operating room. I have worked with a variety of medical professionals obstetricians, family medicine providers, residents and midwives. Prior to becoming a traveling nurse I felt knowledgeable and confident in my skills as a labor and delivery nurse however, through traveling I have expanded my knowledge by experiencing different health systems practices and how practices differ on different regions of the United States.
