Research Assistant - Tagger and Processer

My responsibilities include:

  • Receiving a USB drive of visual data of mammals across many habitats in Southern California.
  • Processing all received data by sorting photo files into folders, ensuring each data point is utilized only once in each folder.
  • Tagging all mammals observed in each folder into an online database - carefully ensuring all species are correctly identified.
  • Providing a written report of my completed tasks to my lab supervisor at the end of every three month period.

My responsibilities include:

  • Teaching up to four, one hour long TK-12th grade, classes in a day. Each class has up to thirty students, with some individuals having special needs.
  • Adjusting my teaching style to the needs of every student in my class.
  • Offering ten different classes, ranging from puppet shows to detailed dissections.
  • Preparing all materials, specimens, and live animals for each class that I teach.
  • Maintaining the health of all live animals in accordance with AZA whilst they are under my care at the aquarium, while transporting, during my classes, and upon return to their tanks at the aquarium.
