Work History

Registered Nurse

Saint Luke's Hospital
02.2014 - Current
  • Manage patients recovering from medical or surgical procedures. As a Labor and Delivery RN I triage incoming patients and provide emergency medical screenings in line with EMTALA, manage intrapartum, antepartum, post partum, neonatal care, and circulate the Operating Room, as well as manage PACU care. Utilize critical thinking skills to prioritize nursing interventions based on patients acuity levels and individual needs.
  • Conducted thorough patient assessments to identify changes in condition, promptly notifying physicians and initiating appropriate interventions when necessary. Utilizing medical translators per patient requests as well. Patient advocacy, respect, medical rights, preventative care, comprehension, communication, trust, policies and protocols, and safety are priorities in my role as an RN.
  • Enhanced patient satisfaction by providing compassionate, holistic nursing care that addressed physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Much of my time is spent at the bedside providing cares, support, pain management, education, med passing, and real-time charting.
  • Assisted in the training and mentorship of new nursing staff members, contributing to a positive work environment and high-quality patient care. Attended precepting workshops for improving my guidance, mentoring, and teaching skills to reduce nurse turnover and burn out rates. Fostered new growth and professional development for Capstone Nursing students.
  • Prevented the spread of infections by consistently adhering to strict infection control protocols (Including no artificial nails or nail polish) and educating patients & family on proper hygiene practices.
  • Collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized comprehensive treatment plans for complex patients with multiple comorbidities. Created patient centered goals along with placing Chaplain, Social Work, Lactation, Anesthesia, Neonatal and other multidisciplinary consults applicable to patient care and resource needs.
  • Skillfully managed challenging patient situations using de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention strategies, and therapeutic communication skills. Saint Luke's Hospital on the plaza serves as a high risk maternity care facility where many of our demographic are lower socioeconomic patients, non-english speaking clients, medical transports for our Maternal Fetal Medicine & cardiac-bridge program, and high-comorbidity/psych maternity clientele. Helping vulnerable patients improve coping abilities and feel valued is part of my therapeutic conflict resolution skills.
  • Improved patient outcomes by implementing evidence-based nursing interventions and individualized care plans. I'm involved in a patient education committee which focuses on improving outcomes and updating patient educational resources.
  • Participated in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in nursing care and emerging trends in healthcare delivery. My annual reviews reflect high score feedback from managers, patients, and peers. Just finished an 8 week elective course on practicing "Mindfulness in Medicine" to improve my personal holistic health, promote better work-life balance and quality/longevity of work performance.
  • Promoted a culture of safety within the healthcare facility by participating in quality improvement initiatives, identifying potential hazards, and advocating for best practices in nursing care delivery. My focus the last 4 years have been educating staff in the Women's Center on Operating Room fire hazard safety which includes running "drills" annually.
  • Followed all personal and health data procedures to effectively comply with HIPAA laws and prevent information breaches. This includes reporting any "phish" work emails.

Restaurant Hostess

McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks
07.2013 - 02.2014
  • Demonstrated strong multitasking skills by handling telephone inquiries while attending to in-person guest needs seamlessly. Managed reservations effectively, accommodating special requests and ensuring accurate guest counts. Completed daily side work. Prevented spread of infection & maintained best first impression of the restaurant by cleaning the FOH, sanitizing menus, bathroom facility maintenance, and proper hygienic practices. Greeted everyone with warm smiles, open body language, and kind communication.
  • Handled high-pressure situations gracefully, managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a calm & friendly demeanor.
  • Maintained an organized waitlist for busy times, ensuring efficient seating of guests. Contributed to a positive team atmosphere by supporting coworkers during peak hours or when understaffed.
  • Resolved guest complaints professionally, taking appropriate action to address issues and improve future experiences. Promoted repeat business through engaging conversations with guests, remembering preferences, and personalizing their experiences. Involved managers for situations outside of my scope.
  • Trained new hostesses on customer service best practices and restaurant policies to maintain high standards of service and consistency through shifts.
