Work History

Powertrain Design Engineer

Society of Automotive Engineers: Baja
College Station, Texas
05.2025 - Current
  • Developed a longitudinal dynamics model to simulate straight-line acceleration using forward Euler kinematics; integrated vehicle design philosophy goals and competition-specific terrain conditions to iteratively determine an optimal final drive ratio.
  • Designed an iterative calculator to automate gear geometry selection to pass stress analysis edge cases and fatigue cases, optimizing two stage reduction combinations for minimal mass and inertia.
  • Learning ANSYS Mechanical to aid in lightweighting gears for weight/inertia reductions and performance benefits.

1978 South African FJ45 Restoration

Personal Project
Richardson, Texas
05.2020 - Current
  • Rebuilt Toyota 2H diesel engine (300k miles)full teardown and inspection, rebuilt cylinder head (rocker arms, valve guides/seals, valve seats), installed Alfin turbo pistons, new bearings, oil pump, seals, and gaskets, verified tolerances, and reassembled with proper timing.
  • Completed drivetrain mock-up, including engine, transmission, and transfer case installation, along with fabrication of custom engine mounts, transmission crossmember, and transmission tunnel modifications
  • Rebuilt FJ75 full-float rear axle (brakes, bearings, seals, third-member, breathers) and modified for custom perches to fit track width of FJ45 chassis.

Chassis Design Engineer Apprentice

Society of Automotive Engineers: Baja
College Station, Texas
10.2024 - 06.2025
  • Designed and modeled chassis components using SolidWorks CAD
  • Prepared and reviewed GD&T drawings to support manufacturing teams, and ensure accurate fit and successful fabrication of chassis components.
  • Gained hands-on experience in manufacturing processes (tube coping, bending, TIG welding)
  • Contributed to team success by helping achieve 3rd place in SAE Baja Acceleration Event (first-ever A&M podium finish)
