My responsibility as a sheriff office telecommunicator (dispatcher) was to ensure the safety of the individuals in my community. As a dispatcher, it was my duty/duties to answer phone calls in a timely manner. I, as a dispatcher, had to provide as much information that I could have to better help the person on the other line. It was also my responsibility to create calls as fast as I could have to make sure the deputies could get to the caller as soon as possible to assist them in anyway needed. Working as a dispatcher was not only my duty to answer phone calls and dispatch. While doing so, had to mulitask meaning I had to answer phones while dispatching, answer phones while filing paperwork or entering information into our systems'. As a telecommunicator, it was my duty to enter items and/or persons into our national data base system. Such as warrants, missing persons, runaways, stolen vehicles and stolen items. It was my responsibility to get those done in a timely manner in case of of the deputies ran across any of these individuals or items while on duty. Not only was it my responsibility to ensure the safety of the individuals in my community, it was also my responsibility to ensure the safety of each deputy that was on duty.

As a Visitation Deputy , my duties were to monitor the visits going on with the inmate and their visitors. Before any person/visitor could speak with an inmate and/or even use the kiosk machines to deposit funds , each individual had to have a warrant check and a certain dress code to enter the facility. If the individual were properly dressed and hadn’t had any warrants , they were allowed into the facility. If the person was in inappropriate dress , I then had to turn the individual around and let he or she know that they were not dressed accordingly and that they were welcomed to come back if they were to change. If the individual had a warrant , they were not allowed to enter the facility and security would be called to escort the individual out and take care of business. Another responsibility of mine was to answer the phone and take calls from individuals calling about our facility or to speak with any staff member on campus. So with that being said , I have a really great phone etiquette.

Also , if we weren’t as busy , I would go over to the Drug Lab next door and help out with paper work to help other employees out.
