  • Fixed a failing Batch Plant system with reconfiguring the actual design of the batch plant and it’s process on how to flow with mixing and pouring
  • When I started, Batch plant operations started at 10 a.m
  • And would go as long as midnight somedays
  • Between the lack of concrete knowledge and a new Batch plant put together wrong, it was my responsibility to get it operating efficiently and effectively
  • When I left Oldcastle the batch plant operators started 7a.m
  • And they were done in 8 to 9 hours with everything poured, finished, cleaned and set up for next day
  • Designing of an effective SCC mix design that allows easy placement, and flow
  • Set up cleaning and maintenance programs to keep the Mixer and conveyor belts running smoothly
  • Help set up the plant floor so that pouring concrete would be more effective in cutting down overtime while adding more tons produced
  • Went from 12-hour days pouring 80 cy to 8.5 hour days and pouring 100 cy
  • We went from 4 batch plant operators to 2
  • I took over north cell operations in July of 2018
  • At that point there were 10 employees producing 50-60 pieces for a total of 60 tons, attaining 80% of pieces scheduled in 10.5-12 hours
  • When I left there were 6 employees producing 90 tons and hitting 100% attainment in 8 hours
  • Implemented Lean manufacturing, 5 S, and working with management and maintenance team to reconfigure forms and processes

  • I spent the 1st couple years learning the different areas of the plant (Pre-stress, Wet Cast, Box Culvert, Dry Cast, and Packer Head)
  • I started the batching, and testing of concrete in 2004
  • I would coordinate, and batch concrete for the five different areas
  • I was in charge of the set up and maintaining of 2 three-yard mixers
  • This position also had me do the testing and making of concrete cylinders, maintaining excellent record keeping and entering them into a share point at allowed the corporate Quality Managers to view in Minnesota
  • I would also manage the concrete pour times, orders of cement and fly ash, and keep track of not only the waste concrete but find ways to eliminate that waste
  • I started the Quality Control Manger position in July of 2013
  • My job duties included reading blue prints and making sure that the pieces were being made according to the blue print
  • I also did pre-pours and post pours for box culverts, wet cast, and pre-stress products
  • I also coordinate quality meetings and solving problems of quality at our plant
  • Work closely with the plant superintendent to make Quality a priority
  • I train employees in the proper procedures of how to set up product and to show the correct process in pouring, consolidating, and finishing…
  • I also sat on the Employee Safety Committee, where we discuss safety acts and did walk throughs of the plant to find, and fix Safety concerns

  • My responsibilities in the 4 years with Heavy Construction was to form curb and gutter, set string line for the concrete paver, basic labor work with grading, building inlets and setting manholes in place
  • I have built decks for bridges, footings and retaining walls
  • We paved everything from sidewalks to driveways to bridge decks, working from sun up to sun down

  • I have learned to operate loaders, bobcats, skid steers, backhoes, forklifts and concrete saws
