Summary

I retired from the Independence Missouri Police Department in 2016 after 30 years of service. Previous assignments within the department include: Patrol Division, Traffic Safety Unit, Jackson County Drug Task Force, Special Response Team, Criminal Investigation Division and was assigned to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for 4 years where I served as a Task Force Officer in the Kansas City field office. Additionally, I served 9-years as a Special Agent for the US Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) while serving in the US Army Reserves.

  • Responsible for routine patrol duties to include enforcing local, state, and federal laws, patrolling assigned areas and responding to calls, detecting and preventing crime, apprehending and transporting suspects, interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects, gathering and logging evidence, writing citations, delivering warrants, and writing incident reports and testifying in court
  • Trained in accident investigation and responsible for investigating and documenting the scene, determine the cause, who is at fault, and other vital matters, to include serious injury and fatal incidents
  • Assigned to the IPD Criminal Investigations. Responsible for conducting felony level investigations with an emphasis on violent crime. Duties include evaluating and supervising the collection and the processing of crime scenes; conducting interviews of victims, witnesses, and suspects; preparing affidavits for search warrants; preparing reports to document the results of investigations and testifying in court proceedings; acting as a liaison with the prosecutor’s office and other state and federal agencies.
  • Assigned as a Task Force officer to ATF. Responsible for conducting federal firearm investigations to include surveillance, preparing and executing federal search warrants, collecting physical evidence, arresting suspects, interview suspects and witnesses, testifying before grand juries, testifying in federal court and working closely with local, state and other federal agencies.
