I have been around the construction and dirt moving industry since I was a little kid. I started working in 2021 doing small tasks around the shop such as parts running and cleaning mechanic trucks. Over time, I was able to go on jobsites where I started on a skidder. Eventually, by the summer of 2024 I was responsible with more responsibility. This is when I would shoot grade with the foreman, and also when I started operating more technical equipment such as dozers and excavators learning how to grade. In winter of 2024, I moved into the wetlands mitigation side of the company, which consists of my father, my mentor, and myself. This is where I had more responsibility around the office learning how to take off plans and do accounting work. I also was able to go out to the banks we were building and operate with that crew. I ran the Komatsu D51 dozer with gps and a CAT 735 haul truck. Eventually I was able to manage the job and make sure it got completed which was good for my management skills.
