University Overview

Clinical Practicum Hours:

Walden's PMHNP program includes multiple practicum courses that require hands-on clinical experience in multiple mental health settings.

The four practicum courses are paired with didactic coursework. Here are the completed courses:

1. Psychopathology & Diagnostic Reasoning + Practicum

2. Psychotherapy with Multiple Modalities + Practicum

3. PMHNP Care Across the Lifespan I & II + each had a Practicum

Each of the four clinical experiences require a minimum of ~160 practicum hours per course. Cumulative clinical hours completed > 640 hours. These are on-site hours at approved clinical locations under the supervision of an approved preceptor. Each Practicum had a minimum of ~80 patient encounters. 40+adults/40+pediatrics.

Supervision & Preceptor Requirements:

All practicum hours must be completed 1:1 under the direct supervision of an approved preceptor.

Practicum hours are completed between 8-11 week time spans. Each patient is logged into Walden's Meditrek system and approved by the instructors.
