• Surgical trays from post-surgery goes straight to decon area when they arrive to the facility in case cart in a truck
• All trays are documented in the system
• Before starting on any soil trays, wiping down the sink area is
mandatory
• Decontaminate, inspect, clean all instruments correctly
• Operate cart, container racks, and instrument washers
• Ultrasonic (all instruments) and hand wash items to be placed in
drying cabinets
• Inspect and assemble trays when it comes out of the instrument
wash. Making sure there’s no damage.
• Make sure to wipe tables and seats before starting and ending of
the shift.
• QA person wraps and closes the tra

• Wash and clean soil instruments in the decontamination area

• Families do sometime request Embalming
• Know formaldehyde and cavity solutions to mix during embalming
• PPE when working on family members
• Burials are done in a short number of days due to their ritual
belief.
• I’m the ONLY One Embalmer in this location.
• Disinterments are done when a decedent is exhumed from the ground

• Consult with Clients on what they want/like.
• Do weddings, photo shoots, cosmetics, and blow dry
• Clean and sanitize styling brushes, tools, chair, table, and anything
that’s touched.

• Color correction, highlights, color, cut, trim, chemical straighten, blow dry, and style. Women and men's hair.

• QC Embalmer cross train to help all Apprentice embalmers if any
questions arise.
• Input all personal effects or items that are with them… (Jewelries,
keys, money, flags, photos, and etc..)
• Prep decedents for services, Embalm, Dress, Cosmo, Casket.
• Help take first calls/ dispatch if needed
• Adjust cosmetics in chapels or in rooms where family is to dress or
view them.
• Take fingerprints as requested per family
• Answer phones in different departments (Clothing, counselors,
needing fingerprints, locks of hair, uploading, and etc)
• Worked through COVID season when it was at its worst
• Use different types of Formaldehyde and Cavity fluids
• Multiple equipment, instruments, and tools are used
• NIOSH, OSHA and Exposure Limit

• Oversee on training all apprentice embalmers.
• Guide them on how to prep and work on decedents

• Clean embalming room, walls, embalming tools, equipment, mop,

and the reaction on mixing chemicals together
• Work on decedents of all weights and sizes. (1 lbs. – 750 lbs.)

• On call- (part time) – drive to multiple locations – Any hours of the
day Los Angeles County, Orange County, Palmdale to Embalm
decedents.
• Using my own embalming equipment to embalm. (Sanitize all used
equipment, prep for the next usage)
• Close eyes, clean nasal, and oral orifices. Wash/Bath, inject
preserving fluids into artery sites on the proper body area, suture,
and aspirate
• Apply cosmetics or restorative art, dress, style hair (Trim, cut, blow
dry, up do, or basic combing)
• Filling out embalming paperwork when finish
