Labor & Delivery unit recently awarded the Gold Seal in Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission.
Approximately 5,000 deliveries a year.
Utilizing EPIC electronic medical records system, safely and independently provide nursing care for the OB triage, labor and delivery, antepartum, and postpartum patient and newborn patient.
Monitor and interpret electronic fetal monitoring strips.
Assess, plan, and implement a plan of care and identify expected outcomes.
Act in role of charge nurse in absence of management: manage all nurses on unit for the shift, coordinate admissions, act as a resource for problems and questions, complete staffing, census, acuity, and productivity paperwork required by the hospital.
Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
Assist physicians with medical procedures in the acute care setting.
Perform initial nursing assessments of newly admitted patients.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure quality and safe patient care delivery at all times.
Ensure proper documentation of patient data for continuity of care purposes.
Identify potential risks or complications associated with critical illness or injury.
Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals regarding changes in patient condition or treatments administered.
Utilize evidence-based practice guidelines when providing direct patient care services.
