Upon graduation, I accepted a position on the Mother-Infant Unit, where I was able to learn to integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of our unique patient population. From Mother-Infant I then accepted a job in the Pediatric Emergency Department where I have been able to continue to grow my knowledge. I have added numerous certifications and joined education committee which is able to bring the most up-to-date evidence-based practice onto the unit. I have become trauma certified and am able to provide care to our trauma patients.
Serves as a charge nurse and preceptor to new nursing staff. Caring for patients in a 22 bed unit along with a 4 bed trauma bay. Trauma nurse at a level one pediatric emergency center. Triage patients and uses knowledge to care for critical patients in high stressful situations. Collaborate with different specialties to provide patient-centered care. Partake in Education Committee to bring most current evidence-based practice onto the unit.
Utilize excellent time management skills to care for the mother-baby dyad. Assist with breastfeeding and family education. Participated in the New Grad Residency Program. Work closely with the pediatric and obstetric teams to provide patient-centered care.
Worked under the supervision of the registered nurse to assist in the car of post-surgical patients. Obtained vitals, bloodwork, assisted with ADL's and started IV's.
Served as an integral part of high volume pediatric primary care office. Assisted pediatric physicians with exams for more than 1,000 patients. Maintained and cleaned exam room and all medical equipment. Handled phone system and appointment calendar. Liaise with insurance providers on behalf of patients.
