Ken Hill is widely recognized as one of the premier motorsports performance coaches in the United States, excelling in both cars and motorcycles. While his passion for cars runs deep, his career was forged in motorcycle road racing, where he began riding at the relatively late age of 30. Despite this, Ken quickly distinguished himself, setting multiple track records and securing class championships in his home state of California. In 2004, he made his professional debut in AMA Superbike, achieving a top ten national finish at the age of 41. Driven by his passion for learning and a commitment to advancing the sport, Ken retired from racing in 2007 to dedicate himself full-time to coaching, data analysis, and writing, where he continues to inspire, educate, and shape the next generation of racers. Throughout his coaching career, Ken has worked with and developed numerous national championship-winning riders, including two-time MotoAmerica champion JD Beach, contributing to over 145 MotoAmerica podium finishes. From 2003 to 2008, Ken taught at the Freddie Spencer High Performance Riding School, where he rose to the position of lead instructor. He continued this role at its successor, the Yamaha Champions Riding School, until 2015. Ken then led and developed the curriculum for the Rick Development Camp, designed for aspiring championship racers, where the coaching staff included former World Superbike champion Scott Russell. From 2017 to 2019, he served as head coach and riding program director for the Rick MotoAmerica Racing team. Ken’s groundbreaking approach to motorsports fundamentals has established him as a leader in the industry, creating a modern, individualized process for how people learn and improve. He has shared these processes with track day organizers across the United States and Canada through schools and training seminars. Demonstrating the versatility of his methodology, Ken has instructed at Harley-Davidson University and expanded into online coaching through the previously car-focused Blayze Coaching platform. As a sought-after keynote speaker, Ken has presented at institutions such as Yale, Google, and Yelp. Now, through his private coaching company, Ken Hill Coaching, he trains both riders and drivers in all aspects of motorsports, continuing to influence the next generation of competitors. Ken’s specialties are: rider/driver coaching, data analysis, team management, mental performance training, vehicle dynamics, track optimization, and curriculum development for motorsports education. His ability to break down complex concepts into actionable steps makes him a standout in teaching the finer points of motorsports techniques and strategies. Additionally, Ken excels in analyzing performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and optimizing team communication to enhance overall results.
