Kendall Schmidt

I have been with the Fire Dist 2 organization for around 15 years. I am a Captain at Broadlands Station. I am FireFighter 2, Instructor 1, and Live Fire Instructor qualified. I am currently studying for Instructor 2 and Officer 1. After my Instructor 1 certification was completed Chief Eric Stracener of Dist 4 invited some of us to help instruct a hazmat awareness thru firefighter 2 academy he was hosting. There I feel I gained valuable experience in supervising students, classroom instruction, pulic speaking, organization, and much more. Because of my flexible job I was present for much of the hurricane cleanup and more recently the wildfires of this past summer and spring. I feel these challenging calls gave me valuable experience in Incident Command, Emergency Management, and Team Leadership capabilities. I enjoy training and pursuing new skills. In my current job I am manager at Sunrise Catfish Farm where I am in charge of the budget, book keeping ,maintenance and employee supervision. I am used to being around equipment and have decent mechanical abilities. I am motivated to help make Fire District 2 into a safe and well trained department.
