Work History

Laminating Lead Operator

  • Upon starting i was a regular operator in the brand new facility. Nobody had experience in learned everything I could from vendors of each component of these machines and applied it. They gave me the department within a year.
  • I'm responsible for 5 operators.
  • What area in the department the operators will be working day to day (typically i rotate the operators every 2 to 3 days).
  • Inspecting product
  • Inspecting raw material such as paper and yarns for damage (was hired for my experience in the types of yarns we use here)
  • Troubleshooting machine issues
  • Creating new ways to perform the process more effectively (many of my ideas from starting at the beginning are still in use today)
  • Project area for operators during planned PM days.
  • Proper web up procedures during web breaks making sure operators web the machine properly.
  • Adhesive making we use whats called a WAT tape or Water Activated Tape.
  • Making machine adjustments on the fly. The product is very sensitive to any moisture or humidity.
  • Making sure my department wears their proper PPE at all times (safety glasses, steel toes, and ear plugs). As well as tell any employee on the production floor to comply should I see them without theirs.
  • Inspected equipment on daily basis and made monitoring adjustments to maintain system integrity and peak operations.

  • Started out in the side sheeting area. Placed decking on the exterior wall so vinyl could be placed.
  • Moved to the vinyl area after 2 years.
  • A year later moved into exterior boxing. Was responsible for all cosmetic work on the viewable side of the roof as well and the underside.
  • While there is was on the safety committee. Was under the department lead and would take on his duties in his absence.

K18 Lead Operator

  • Produced a polyester like fiber. Goes in anything from seat belts, fire hoses, tires, and many other applications.
  • My responsibilities included making sure guages were checked and inspected during the shift.
  • If quality would start to decline do pack changes. Packs are what the extruded polymer entered to make our yarn.
  • Maintain regular maintenance such as quench screen changes, roll alignment, as well as housekeeping tasks.
  • Make sure operators performed their jobs and always wore proper PPE on the production floor (safety glasses, steel toes, ear plugs, pants and long sleeves).
  • Winder changes.
  • Machine calibrations.
  • Minor PLC work such as cycling power to the individual machines
  • Communication with area coordinator throughout the 12 hour shift, as well as daily meeting with the plant manager.
  • Maintained correct temperature, levels and pressures on process systems and equipment.
  • Performed daily maintenance checks and troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions.
  • Resolved issues related to production processes or personnel conflicts promptly.
  • Sorted product components on work tables to maintain maximum organization and productivity.
  • Created and maintained daily activity logs to track ongoing operational performance.
  • Used hand trucks and forklifts to unload, load and transport items.
  • Observed and troubleshot equipment and machines to detect malfunctions and notify appropriate personnel of needed repairs.
  • Checked control panel and gauges during equipment operation.
