The Fire and Safety II is responsible for implementing monitoring and enforcing fire prevention, occupational safety, and emergency preparedness programs to ensure a safe working environment. This position conducts inspections, investigates incidents, provides safety training, ensures compliance with applicable regulations, and serves as a key member of the organization’s emergency response team.

•Conduct routine fire and safety inspections.

•Respond to fire alarms, medical emergencies, and other incidents.

•Investigate safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.

•Maintain and inspect fire protection equipment (fire extinguishers, alarms, sprinkler systems, etc.).

•Assist with emergency evacuations and coordinate with emergency responders.

•Prepare incident reports and maintain safety records.

•Provide safety training and fire drills for staff and occupants.

•Monitor security and respond to disturbances or unsafe situations, when applicable.

•Support a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

•Responding to behavioral or visitor-related situations that could affect resident or staff safety.

• Maintained clean and comfortable environments in the VA building by vacuuming, cleaning windows and dusting.
• Collected trash and emptied receptacles.
• Responded immediately to calls from personnel to clean up spills and wet floors.
• Worked with building managers to assess ongoing needs and plan preventive maintenance and cleaning schedules.
• Followed procedures for use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors.
• Mixed, used and properly stored hazardous chemical cleaners to reduce risk of injury or illness.
• Completed routine floor stripping, sealing and finishing.
• Ran variety of cleaning machines such as floor machines designed to strip, wax, extract and top scrub floors and carpets.
• Moved furniture for cleaning and set up for special events.
