Work History

Emergency Medical Technician

Enloe Medical Center
07.2018 - 04.2020
  • Conducted interviews with patients in high-stress situations to understand their concerns/issues and provide appropriate treatment. Addressed these issues in a timely manner. If the level of care was above my licensed level I would refer them to the appropriate staff member who could help them. Often checked with patients after the referral to assure they received proper treatment. Did this while following and referencing local, hospital and state policies and laws.
  • Established and maintained professional relationships with other ambulance companies, hospital staff, emergency dispatch, local and state fire departments, local law enforcement officials, care facility staff and the individuals and families of Butte and Colusa counties (estimated population of 208,000 people).
  • Communicated effectively orally with hospital staff, other emergency service officials, patients and community members to achieve proper treatment, safety, and to develop goals and plans for patients. Communicated effectively while writing patients care reports. These reports were used for billing, documentation of treatment, and a record of the scene for possible court cases.
  • Received an award of recognition from a coworker from the social workers department. This award for being patient, kind and level headed with a patient that was deemed 'difficult' by staff that interacted with them. Using proficient communication skills to reach an agreement on a treatment plan and was able to safely achieve a transport to an appropriate facility. During this 3 hour transport I was able to keep the patient comfortable just by using psychological concepts and techniques.
  • Improved patient outcomes by administering appropriate treatments based on thorough assessments of vital signs, physical conditions, and medical histories.
  • Successfully prevented violence being inflicted on myself, partners, hospital staff, community service members, patients, and surrounding family and friends. Achieved this by de-escalating situations with patients and surrounding community members. Assessed and evaluated scenes and patients for potential threats. Used multiple delivery systems to prevent violence.
  • Trained one on one with new coming EMTs on violence prevention, safety, protocols, emergency medical services, other emergency services available for use, de-escalation, and life management after traumatic events. Mentored these individuals after traumatic events to ensure their safety.
