Kendry Valdespino

My name is Kendry, a 17-year-old originally from Cuba who immigrated to the United States with my parents. Their aspiration was to provide me with a promising future enriched with educational opportunities and the potential for a rewarding career. During my middle school years, my parents enrolled me in a Charter School where I engaged in advanced coursework and actively participated in school sports such as soccer and football. Our team achieved commendable results in various tournaments, including securing victories.

My academic journey has been marked by a commitment to excellence, reflected in my consistent pursuit of high grades. This dedication stems not only from personal ambition but also from a desire to make my parents proud. Currently enrolled in high school, I have consistently excelled in advanced and honors classes, earning recognition on both High and Normal Honor Rolls throughout my 9th, 10th, and 11th grades.

Beyond academics, I have devoted myself to community service endeavors. Fulfilling my volunteer hours at my father's workplace, the Produce Exchange, involved donating food to charitable organizations and churches. Additionally, I contributed my time to various activities at the YMCA, gaining valuable skills in communication, problem-solving, and time management.

Recently, I seized a job opportunity to care for a family member's dog, drawing on skills acquired from a veterinary class I took in 10th grade. This experience furthered my understanding of animal care and welfare, reinforcing my passion for helping animals in need.

My aspirations extend to higher education, driven by a desire to fulfill a familial dream of being the first to attend university. Mechanical engineering beckons me due to its blend of creativity and technical problem-solving. My fascination with automobiles, nurtured since childhood, fuels my interest in understanding their intricate workings and designing innovative solutions. I envision a career in research, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems, with aspirations of eventually establishing my own business specializing in car tuning and maintenance.
