Although I am only in high school, I have made many steps toward working in a professional setting. One of those is that I have worked with small businesses in the past, selling my candles in multiple boutiques in the past. I have learned teamwork and communication from this. I am also very dependable and have great time management. I make a point to show up on time. I am great at communicating with costumers and I can sell a product very well.
FCCLA is a school organization I currently undertake at my high school. Within my chapter, I am proud to say that I am a chapter officer, one of seven. I am also a competitor, and last year I made it to the National Leadership Conference in Denver, CO. I made a rotating compost bin out of repurposed items. This year I did "Plastic Drive" in which I took the 1800 pieces of plastic I raised and made them into eco-bricks, which I then made into an insulated dog kennel, I plan to give this dog kennel to the local Taylor Animal Shelter. FCCLA has given me many leadership skills, taught me to speak, and allowed me to help my community.
Along with school, I also have a candle business that I have made for myself for about 4 years. I use organic soy wax and wooden wicks. I sell them in the Soap Bar in Taylor, TX and I also sell them at the local farmers market in Taylor. This business has allowed me to grow with the community, as well as given me great verbal skills.
I have been to the National Leadership Conference with FCCLA, which is a huge accomplishment that many do not achieve. I maintain A/B Honor roll within the school and I am also an officer with my local FCCLA chapter.
