Construction Worker

Blouin Brothers Construction

  • Whilst working here at Blouin Bros. I was learning the concrete trade. My first job out of high school consisted mostly of construction related labor tasks. I was responding for jobs like pulling the concrete with a rake during our pours or shoveling dirt to clean out a trench. Also handling the concrete chute, pulling pump hoses, fetching water, providing food and water to team members were some some of the daily tasks that I handled.
  • As a team member I had to help keep the mixer full of materials at all times. Keeping a constant supply of dirt and water to our gyp-Crete mixer was an endurance tester always. I was always in the pit shoveling dirt during pours.
  • Learned skills necessary for finishing concrete.
  • Learned how to set forms for pouring concrete.

Working with this team I developed a real understanding of how form-setting and pouring procedures are conducted.
