As the Light Fuels Manager, I am required to wear many hats. First and foremost, my focus is on quality. Our entire business revolves around providing our customers with accurate results.
Turnaround times are also extremely important as many of our customers are on strict timelines. In order to provide fast, accurate data we have to ensure our instruments are functioning properly and the staff is properly trained to handle the workload.
I make sure our inventory of consumables stays well stocked, so we don't have any down time due to running out of materials.
Completing, reviewing, and reporting proficiency testing programs to the appropriate governing bodies also falls under my supervision.
If we get a non-conformance on a ptp I launch an investigation to find the root cause of the non-conformance and figure out the best corrective action.
I build methods within LIMS software used at Bureau Veritas as well as create user accounts. This includes building equations used for calculating analysis results as well as repeatability, reproducibility, temp corrections, and any other variable required for the method to function properly. I also assist with various QC accuracy projects, collecting and distributing information within the LIMS program.
Gulf Transporter is a hot shot courier/freight company I started in 2018. From my time working in petroleum labs, I understood the need for a quality delivery service that brings a strong sense of urgency to the industry. My primary responsibilities are to pick up and deliver samples from various chemical plants and labs. I also transport laboratory equipment ranging from a flash unit to octane and cetane engines.
My time as Assistant Manager with Bureau Veritas was focused on improving turnaround times without sacrificing quality. Improved training of new hires along with more refresher training of current technicians was key in the continuing improvement of our customer service. Other responsibilities included tracking consumable inventory, maintaining instrument readiness, employee scheduling, and continuous safety training.
As supervisor my primary responsibility was to get jobs done within the agreed upon turnaround time. This required constant awareness of how analysis was progressing. Outsourcing methods that we could not run or the instrument was down. Following up with outside labs on progress and projected completion times. Reviewing results and comparing them with typicals and provided specifications.
Supervising the Clean Products lab at Intertek required tenacious work ethic, strong leadership, and solid multitasking skills. Clean Products was a specialized group focused on finished gasoline and diesel certification. Our purpose was to help our customers move their product as quickly as possible while maintaining strict quality guidelines.
