First Year GEO-Platform Washington & Jefferson College, January 2018

As a freshman, I was nominated to partake in W&J College First Year GEO Program, which is a course that has a built-in study abroad program that is fully funded by the college. Specifically, the course title was Germany Through Film, in which we analyzed German films from the 1930s to 1990s, from the rise and fall of the Nazi regime to Germans life post WWII. We then traveled to Germany and Poland to do field research on how German education and life were during and post WWII/Cold War.


Magellan Project - Geary Award Washington & Jefferson College, June 2018

As a freshman, I was awarded the Geary award for the Magellan project, receiving full funding for my research project with Universidad Nacional in Costa Rica. My research was on how Costa Rica is one of Latin America's safest and most well-being countries despite not having a military since 1949. This includes conducting interviews with professors, students, and locals in different cities in Costa Rica while investigating the impact of not having an army on Costa Rica's cultural and economic life.

Received the IMPACT Scholar Award, which is a partnership between YES Prep Public Schools and Washington & Jefferson College that provides full financial assistance to high-achieving students from YES Prep Public Schools located in Houston, Texas.
